Setting the system up is very easy; all the contents you need are amply provided. Two rechargeable batteries are included for the collar, and plenty of marking flags are provided to outline the perimeter of your boundary fence.
The level of shock you decide to administer to you dog is completely adjustable – ranging from an auditory alarm to fairly substantial jolt. If using multiple collars, varying shock levels and perimeters can be set.
When setting a perimeter, you can ‘test’ it by walking with the collar and seeing when the alarm begins to sound on the collar and the main unit. The alarm on the main unit is a pleasantly surprising feature. It means that if you are inside the house and your dog is outside, you can hear the alarm from inside if your dog goes across one of the boundaries.
The collar will sound first, and apply the shock a couple of seconds later, teaching the dog not to approach the boundaries again.
The marking flags can be put up to help plot the perimeter. Your dog will probably learn to associate the flags with shocks and won’t approach those points.
Perimeter range can vary in places with weaker signal. This means that depending on your signal it may be 10+ or 10- feet. Not a problem if you have a large, but may cause complications if you’re in a small area with low signal.
